For his fourth UFC fight Khabib Nurmagomedov met with a top Brazilian fighter Abel Trujillo at UFC 160. The competition took place on May 25, 2013, in Las Vegas, USA
The course of combat:
From the very beginning, Khabib sets the rules. As soon as he has the opportunity, he looks for a takedown to get Trujillo on the ground and implement his game plan.
The Russian controls all the three five-minute periods of the fight, which reflects on the fight statistics.
The judges make a unanimous decision and give the win to Khabib. His attacking manner and Trujillo’s weak defence help him break the record of the number of takedowns in one fight: 21 takedowns in one bout!
After his solid win, Khabib tweeted a demand to UFC president Dana White to book him against the reigning fighter "B.J." Penn.
The win over Abel Trujillo raised Khabib’s rating in the UFC lightweight division and extended his winning record to 20-0.
When I was throwing him, I didn’t know there was such a record. Because of a microtrauma it was hard to cut weight, so before the fight my father told me to be close to the opponent all the time and twist him all the 15 minutes. So I was throwing him and even overdid it a little. After the fight I was told I’d broken the record.
